Custom Machinery Sheds

Large clearspan machinery sheds to house tractors, headers, harvesters and farm equipment. No internal columns, maximum usable floor space for your biggest gear. Every machinery shed is custom engineered for your equipment dimensions and site conditions.

Machinery Shed Design Options

Built for Big Equipment

Machinery sheds need high clearances and wide openings. Portal frame construction delivers clearspans from 12m to 24m+ with eave heights to suit your tallest equipment.

Common Machinery Shed Sizes

Need a bigger footprint? Multi-span configurations connect portal frames side by side for unlimited width, ideal for large cropping operations with multiple headers and support vehicles.

Engineered for Your Site

Every machinery shed is fully engineered for your location, wind region, terrain category, soil type and any cyclone or bushfire requirements. Full council-ready engineering documentation included with every kit. COLORBOND® steel cladding and roofing with up to a 45 year warranty.

Machinery sheds are part of our farm shed range. Also see hay sheds, livestock sheds, dairy sheds and equine sheds.

Clearspan Design for Maximum Floor Space

The whole point of a machinery shed is unobstructed space. Internal columns get in the way of turning equipment, block forklift paths, and limit where you can park. Shedz machinery sheds use steel portal frame construction to deliver clear spans from 9m to 30m+, no internal columns required.

Every frame is fully engineered to your site’s wind region and terrain category. BlueScope Steel frames with COLORBOND® cladding as standard.

Machinery Shed Sizing Guide

Size your shed to fit your largest piece of equipment with clearance for access and manoeuvring:

Equipment Min Clear Span Min Wall Height Notes
Utes, cars, small tractors 9m 3.6m Standard access
Medium tractors + implements 12m 4.5m Allow for implement width
Headers, harvesters 15m to 18m 5m to 6m GPS antennas add 1m+ height
Large broadacre machinery 18m to 24m+ 6m to 7.5m Consider drive-through access

Tip: Build 20% bigger than your current fleet. Machinery gets wider every upgrade cycle, and a shed that’s tight today will be too small in 5 years.

Use our shed sizing guide if you’re unsure about dimensions.

Machinery Shed FAQs

Open front or enclosed, which is better?

Open front for daily-use equipment where speed of access matters. Enclosed for high-value machinery, security, and weather protection. Many farms build a combination: open bays for tractors and implements, enclosed bays for the header and precision equipment.

Can I add a workshop section?

Absolutely. A common configuration is an enclosed workshop bay at one end of the machinery shed, with open or roller-door bays along the rest. The workshop bay gets insulation, power, lighting, and a concrete floor. See our workshop sheds page.

What about dust and grain storage?

For enclosed sheds storing grain or dusty commodities, specify sealed wall and roof cladding with no gaps at flashings. Ridge ventilation helps manage condensation without letting rain in.
